Prof Irfan Ahmad

Prof. Dr. Irfan Ahmad is a distinguished Professor of Medicine and Gastroenterology with over two decades of extensive academic, clinical, and research experience. A graduate of Quaid-e-Azam Medical College (MBBS, 1987), he earned his FCPS in Medicine (2002) and FCPS in Gastroenterology (2007) from CPSP Karachi. He is a PMDC-registered consultant and recognized faculty supervisor. Dr. Ahmad has served in progressive academic roles at Sheikh Zayed Medical College (SZMC), Rahim Yar Khan, including Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor (Regular). His expertise spans advanced diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal procedures including upper and lower GI endoscopy, ERCP, variceal band ligation, PEG placement, biliary stenting, liver biopsy, and management of complex hepatobiliary disorders. An active researcher, he has authored and co-authored 25+ publications in national and international indexed journals, with significant contributions in hepatology, cirrhosis, variceal bleeding, hepatitis C management, and gastrointestinal endoscopy. He has also presented research papers at multiple Pakistan Society of Gastroenterology (PSG) congresses. With a strong commitment to medical education, clinical excellence, and evidence-based practice, Prof. Dr. Irfan Ahmad continues to contribute significantly to the advancement of internal medicine and gastroenterology in Pakistan.
